Dark picture, but we were waiting for movie to begin |
Miguel and I were way over due for a mom and son night out. It was only the two of us for 10 years and now that our little jellybean has come along it's the three musketeers. With her being so little i'm afraid that my attention can sometimes lean more towards her than Miguel and I want to make sure that he still feels loved and that our mom and son relationship is still the same.
That's why I was so excited when the chance to see an early screening of Gods Of Egypt came up. First of all this was a movie that was on Miguels must see movies list, but with having a little one you tend to end up watching mostly cartoon movies at the movie theater, which is not bad but when you have a 12 year old this can be a little tiring. We both jumped on the Gods Of Egypt excitement wagon and made it down to mid town Manhattan, broken toe and all and in the rain.
We really wanted to see this movie and it did not disappoint.
Gods Of Egypt is rated PG-13 and let me just say that I really appreciate the fact that the nudity was left to a 1 level, meaning a tiny was showed and it was nothing crazy or scary. Yes, I know it's the human body but I love being able to watch a movie without it having to focus on intense sex scenes or must have nude scenes, especially when the dialogue is meant to be drama and action.
Getting that out of the way this movie had me at the edge of my seats from beginning to end, we are talking about the Survival of Mankind here.
If I was a big fan of Gerard Butler, you better believe I wasn't so much by the end of this movie but that just means that he did an amazing job portraying Set the merciless god of darkness. I'd much rather swoon over Bek the defiant mortal in this movie, he teaches us what true love is and how you will do anything for the person you truly love. Now Horus on the other hand took me a while to really warm up to him, to give him a second chance and that's also one of the messages in the movie. You have to give people a second chance, see them for who they really are and help them realize that.
I don't want to give away any spoilers, and I'm just going to tell you that
it made me laugh and cry. Yes, it made me cry. I am a big baby cry but watch it and tell me it didn't make you lose a tear or two. The 2 hours went by way too fast and left me wanting just a little bit more of Egypt. Miguel couldn't stop talking about the movie, after it we went to grab a bite of pizza while we talked about the movie and today he woke up way earlier than usual, his excitement to go back to school and report to his fellow friends that Gods Of Egypt is a must see movie could not be contained.
Gods Of Egypt is coming out tomorrow Friday the 26th.
So make sure to buy your tickets now, because I'm sure they will sell out fast and enjoy a travel back to time with the gods.
P.S. I will also be putting a little bit of our movie night on the vlog, it will be up later today! :)
Love,
Kary xoxo
